Staff Accountant

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team. This individual will be one of the founding members of the Finance Department. You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track MCCPDC assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other relater financial activities. You will also be responsible for reconciliations, verifying and completing invoices associate with account payable and tracking payments to appropriate accounts. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • One to three years of related experience desired.
  • Previous experience in a startup environment is desired.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar system and experience with accounting software.
  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (OPTIONAL):

  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and not afraid to take initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
